Elton John

Show business veteran Elton John plays live during the Red Piano tour in Zurich, Switzerland

One of the agency photographers I was editing pictures with after our first-two(!)-songs-only said that the song "Nikita" was too old for me to know it. Little does he know my mom is a huge Elton John fan, and I haven't missed an Elton John show in Zurich for the past 15 years.

Some new songs have joined the old favorites, Elton (and his guitar player with the straight long hair) have remained the same: Engaging, professional, extraordinary musicians. I've seen a couple *cough* of their shows, and every single one was great from start to end. They play about 2.5 to 3 hours nonstop, no breaks for Elton to give a guitarist time to play a solo. And that boy is over 60 years old - take that, James Hetfield!

Of course, Elton John is also known for his, errr, very distinctive choice of clothes, haircuts, glasses, and just about everything else, which makes him a great subject for photos. Zooming in you can also see that even after all these years, his passion for music and playing shows is still alive and kicking a** as ever. I wish I'd gotten more than just two songs...

PS: I shot this show thanks to my new collaboration with 20 Minuten Online - thanks to them and promoter GoodNews for giving me the opportunity!
