No Use For A Name

Far From Finished opening for No Use For A Name at Abart Club Zurich
Wow, what a mosh pit!
I was there earlier than I thought, and got to take some pretty neat shots of openers Far From Finished (above). The crowd was really into it - and that on a Sunday night! So when No Use For A Name hit the stage, the beer immediately started flying, and the whole area from mixing desk until stage was one huge mosh pit for the rest of the night. As there is no rail in front of the stage, that meant for me - shoot from the audience, join the moshing (and try to avoid the beer). That worked out pretty well, I like it when you can see a bit of the audience in the pictures. Gives them more depth, in my opinion.

At some point, it was getting really hot in there (thankfully someone opened some door, ah, air! The neighbours probably called the police because of the noise though ;-) , so I got on one of the seats in the back and kept shooting from there. Mosh pits are exhausting, but the band was well worth it!

From Autumn To Ashes

From Autumn To Ashes live in concert at Abart Club in Zurich
A couple of weeks ago I went to Abart, a very fine local club (fine because they have an awesome interior, and really great bands - and that's only if you ignore their "Alternative Nation" parties...!). From Autumn To Ashes were playing, and I got to take pictures.

The good thing: I got to shoot during both openers and the whole FATA show. Got some really intense moments towards the end of the show, so well worth not kicking photographers out after three songs! The downside was that it was a tad crammed in there (can you blame people for showing up for a show like that? Hell no!), so for the most part I stayed in the back, and shot from a podium I found there. I'll keep that location in mind - the shot above is from one of the last songs they played, and was shot from there. I'd even say I prefer spots in the back to the pit - the audience gives the pictures more depth, and who's interested in the lead singer's nose hair, anyway ;-) .
