You don't have to old to be wise, yet Pennywise have been around for, say, a while. Hence also why the audience knew all songs by heart and started singing them from before the doors even opened until probably late after the show. Knowing songs by heart also helps when moshing and jumping and dancing, seems like the crowd behind me had great fun!

This time, I didn't get knocked in the head with shoes either, maybe the kid from last time learned something :-)

I learned something too: I'd borrowed a friend's 17-35mm - quite a different way of looking at things than if you see them through a 70-200mm (and I'm not even talking about my 24-70mm - that one's a wonderful lens and probably would be the most useful for this size of location and stage, but it's a Canon, and there's no way in hell I'm a) going back to the 20D cause a1) its slowness is driving me nuts plus a2) the 20D has a crop, so it feels more like the 70-200 does on the D3 anyway; and b) there's no way in hell I'm buying a Canon-to-Nikon adapter and get to focus manually - I can't see what I'm shooting as it is *smirk*!). So anyway, I brought both Nikon lenses and the D3, and exercised lens changing during both Pennywise's show and their opener's.

Fans cheering at Pennywise; Volkshaus Zurich |
Speaking of which, there were two openers, first Swiss band "The Next Big Thing" which I didn't get to shoot and then "A Wilhelm Scream" from Boston. They have a guitarist with a wonderful white Gibson (which makes for great color in photos) who must be at least 6'' - adds a different way of looking at things too!

A Wilhelm Scream live in concert at Volkshaus Zurich |
In related notes, there was an Amnesty International stand next to the merch stand; and I doubt A Wilhelm Scream are sponsored by Nike, they just all own some really comfy sneakers.
