Flogging Molly

Pepper opening the show for Flogging Molly at Volkshaus Zurich, Switzerland
Flogging Molly, that's Irish mixed with rock'n'roll until it makes you bounce. They had an opener that made me just as bouncy - Pepper from Hawaii. Pepper not only looked good in boardshorts and without shirt, they also played really well: A mix of Hawaiian music with ... bouncy rock'n'roll! Awesome!

The house was already pretty heated up when they were over, and the whole lower floor started jumping, dancing, rocking, and moshing when Flogging Molly took the stage. Glad I was in the pit (and glad this pit doesn't have any bars keeping you from walking freely)! It was rather busy, with about three other guys taking pictures, and between one and four security guys (depending on whether some of them were escoring/carrying out a fan or not).

I had brought my brand new Nikon D3 with the 70-200mm 2.8 VR (I love them both! Safe for Nikon's software, it's the best thing that happened to photography since the invention of flash memory!). Since it is still brand new, I didn't trust myself with it, so I also brought the "old" Canon 20d with my trusted 24-70mm 2.8. That was quite comfortable: Instead of having to un-mount and re-mount lenses, I could just pick whichever I thought would capture the action on stage best. I love the results (and the cold shower after I got home from this show - what a party)!
